M&Co. Turns 5 at Jayson Home

On the last Thursday in January, Melanie Everett & Company celebrated our 5th birthday at Jayson Home in Lincoln Park. This will go down as one of the most special evenings.

Here are some of the details behind this event:

Venue: Jayson Home is the kind of store that makes you want to stay a while. It's packed to the brim with home goods of all kinds: plants, candles, coffee-table books, one-of-a-kind furniture, and vintage finds galore. The building itself is massive, with a garden next door that fills up with plants and flowers in the spring and summer (and Christmas trees in December!). It made all the sense in the world to host this party here! I'm so grateful to the Jayson Home team for their openness and flexibility as we planned this event together.

Music: While I love a curated Spotify playlist, there's nothing quite like live music. On a recommendation from Courtney, I reached out to a booking agent who was able to curate the coolest trio for that night on bass, keys, and guitar. This trio was incredible -- a total vibe! I couldn't recommend them more.

Paper Goods: My friend Elise has been busy launching her very own shop, Elise Campbell Design! After seeing her work, I knew she would be the perfect person to handle all things signage/paper products for this party. I shared a bit of the event vision with Elise, and she was off to the races. The finished suite consisted of custom logo cups, four different napkin designs, a gorgeous handout for guests to grab upon entry, and the cutest signage in all shapes and sizes. Elise! You did so good!

Matchboxes: After the response to our custom Lincoln Park matchboxes last September, it was clear that we needed to do it again -- this time, with a Jayson Home spin. Sarah drew the adorable sketch on the front, and on the back, we wrote a little blurb about why we love Jayson Home. Très chic!

Food & Drink: We set up a makeshift bar on one of Jayson Home's large check-out counters. My dad, wearing a white jacket, served as our bartender, pouring fizzy glasses of sparkling wine, crisp sauvignon blanc, and fruit-infused water for guests. He had a ball! Across the store, my mom, Aunt Tania, and I arranged a table of treats and bites, from custom cookies by Sweet Mandy B's to a teeming charcuterie spread.

Favorite Finds: Of course, what would be a party in a store without shopping? The entire venue was for sale that night, and the Jayson team kindly partnered with me to set up a table overflowing with my favorite pieces, like... brass alphabet coasters, Wonderland, Charm School, Maison Louie Marie (number 4 always), John Derian playing cards, and so much more!

I wish I could go back and re-live this night. Thank you so much to everyone who made it possible! Thank you to our incredible guests, from family to clients to friends to vendors. Thank you to Jayson Home for hosting us!
