AT HOME WITH
David & Erin
With their wedding just a few months away, David & Erin kicked off a home search in the very competitive Western Suburbs. They toured an off-market beauty circa 1904 & swiftly went under contract. From there, they got married, went on a honeymoon, & closed on their house!

Erin is one of my oldest and dearest friends. We grew up together in Hinsdale, and I have hundreds of memories stored up with Erin since the first grade: moving into a house down the street from Erin and her family right before 1st grade, acting in the “The Granny Awards” at our elementary school, rooming together on our middle school class trip to D.C., riding bikes all over town (and later, when Erin got her license, we traded in the bicycles for her red Mustang convertible!), goofing off in high school French class, hanging out with our friends in her kitchen… I could go on and on.
When college came around, Erin headed up to Wisconsin and eventually met David, her now-husband!
Erin and David are some of the kindest people I know. They get along with everyone and are loved by so many. Erin is extremely hardworking, but also hilarious and always has the best stories up her sleeve. David is her perfect match. He’s diligent, even-keeled, and so genuine.
A few months before their wedding, Erin told me that her and David were ready to look for a house after several years in the city. We scheduled a consultation, and I excitedly walked them through the buying process. I also prepared them for a very, very competitive suburban market where well-positioned homes were flying off the market with multiple offers. Time was of the essence, since Erin and David were in a lease that was expiring — plus, of course, the wedding was just around the corner!
I snapped into action and began reaching out to agents. In a stroke of pure luck, I got a bite: a fellow agent told me about another agent’s pocket listing in Hinsdale. All I had was the price, a few exterior photos, and a floor plan, but I presented it all to Erin and David to see what they thought.
We made a plan to go tour the house, and… David and Erin loved it! They made and negotiated an offer, and we completed the transaction entirely off-market. It was one of those rare real estate miracles.
I adore this house. It’s a Hinsdale classic with a sweet enclosed front porch overlooking the street, a welcoming floor plan, and the most idyllic walk-to-town location. After closing, David and Erin went to work renovating the kitchen, and the result makes the house even more spectacular. (See photos below!)
I’m beyond thankful that Erin and David trusted me with this massive move from the city to the suburbs. Congratulations, friends!
A Few Quick Questions for David & Erin
How many homes did you look at before finding yours? We had dropped into a couple open houses, but this was the first house we actually toured with Mel!
How did you know this was The One? We could immediately see ourselves raising a family in this house. It’s on the cutest street full of young families and just blocks from downtown Hinsdale. And the layout of the house provided space for us to grow into.
What is the very best feature in your home? The old character and charm. The house was built in 1904 and we love the antique features like the creaky front porch and original crown molding.
Which room do you spend the most time in? The kitchen! Ever since we've renovated the kitchen, we take every chance we can to host our family and friends.

Erin & David’s Kitchen Renovation
The kitchen we toured is no more! Erin & David started fresh with new everything: quartz countertops, gorgeous cabinetry (I love the warm wood tones!), & sleek white appliances.
