Meet Courtney Funkhouser

Courtney Funkhouser has always loved real estate. She grew up going to open houses every Sunday with her mom. In college, she became the go-to apartment-hunter amongst her friends, scouring websites and forums for the best places. Today, finding homes is her career. She loves helping people find their safe haven. It’s not her job to “sell” a client on a house but to partner with that buyer to find the one and that seller to showcase their home to its fullest potential.

As a former CPA, Courtney naturally loves numbers. Studying the market is her other favorite part of this job. She believes there is a fair price for everything, and she fights to get that for her clients on either side of the deal, whether she is representing the seller or the buyer.

Courtney lives in a lovingly restored house in Old Irving Park with her husband, Dan, son Finn, daughter Francie, and Frenchie Rhone. She can be found playing at the park with her family, going for walks with friends, or exploring neighborhood gems like Eris & Community Tavern.

A Few Quick Questions for Courtney

What’s your favorite part of the listing process?

Seeing our pricing strategy pay off! There is so much that goes into pricing correctly for the specific market and home. When sellers trust you to lead them in this, it’s incredibly rewarding to see the interest pour in when it’s done correctly.

What’s your favorite part of the purchase process?

Inspection day! I love to see my clients ride the high of going under contract & imagine their future in the space. Plus, I get an extended amount of time to hang out & chat with my clients.

Tell us about your home!

After years of living in our condo in Logan Square, we needed a little more space! We traded in condo life for a single-family home in Old Irving Park. It’s a historic home (lots of projects!). We just finished our kitchen renovation & are working on converting the attic to a guest bedroom.

What does your perfect Saturday look like?

I’d start by picking up fresh bagels with my son from our go-to spot & going to the park for a playdate. In the afternoon, I’d host a packed open house, & I’d cap off the evening by having friends over for dinner.

How would your clients describe you?

Friendly but fierce when needed :)
